EIT Climate-KIC Greece Hub funded by EIT Climate-KIC is the EU’s climate innovation initiative, working to accelerate the transition to a zero- carbon and resilient world by enabling systems transformation. The Greek Hub is led by the Sustainable Development Unit of the ATHENA Research and Innovation Information Technologies Centre in collaboration with the Research Centre for Atmospheric Physics and Climatology of the Academy of Athens (AA), and the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE). In the last one year, the Hub achieved the following:

✔ First draft of the innovation mapping report for the case of Greece

✔ One capacity building workshop with title “Circular economy: Challenges, opportunities and impact for the Greek economy”

✔ Participation in the conference “Innovation in North Greece and the institutions that support it 3.0”. Learn more here.

✔ Participation via providing mentoring at the Piraeus Blue Hackathon Day. Learn more here.

Prof. Phoebe Koundouri together with Prof. Yannis Ioannidis and Prof. Chrysi Laspidou participated in the Greek delegation at the International EXPO 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, which took place 22 - 24 February representing ATHENA Research and Innovation Information Technologies Centre (ATHENA Research and Innovation Center). From the 21st to 24th of June, the EIT Climate-KIC Regional Innovation Scheme Hub Days took place in Valencia, Spain, where ATHENA RC was represented by Ms. Lydia Papadaki (physically) and Dr. Artemis Stratopoulou (virtually). Learn more here.
