Georgios Mylonas received the diploma (2003), M.Sc. (2005), and Ph.D. (2008) degrees from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, Greece. From 2005 to 2020, Georgios was a member of the Research Unit 1 of the Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus”, Patras, initially as a postgraduate student and later as a post doc and senior researcher. He has worked as adjunct faculty at the University of Patras, Greece, and the Technological Educational Institute of Central Greece, teaching courses such as Operating Systems and Distributed Systems. Since November 2020, Georgios is a Principal Researcher with the Industrial Systems Institute, “ATHENA” Research Center, Patras.

His research interests include smart cities, IoT, wireless sensor networks, pervasive and distributed systems, energy efficiency and sustainability. Georgios’ research output includes 44 conference papers, 22 journals and 4 book chapters (January 2021). Between 2005 and 2020, he was involved in over 10 FP6, FP7 and H2020 research projects related to smart cities, IoT and sensor networks, such as AEOLUS, WISEBED, SmartSantander, and OrganiCity. Georgios was the principal investigator and coordinator for the Green Awareness in Action (GAIA) H2020 Project. For his contributions, he has received best demo awards in conferences such as IEEE MASS (2008) and ACE (2009), best video award at the Internet of Things 2010 conference (IoT 2010), and best book article in Future Internet Assembly 2012. He is a reviewer for journals such as IEEE Internet of Things, IEEE Access, MDPI Sensors and Elsevier Cities (outstanding reviewer award, November 2018). Georgios is a member of the ACM.
