Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials Science, University of Patras

Dr. (b. 1975) received the B.Sc degree in physics in 1998 from the University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and the M.Sc. degree in the Physics of Laser Communications in 1999 (with distinction) from the University of Essex, Colchester, Essex, U.K., and the PhD degree for work on GaInNAs-based optoelectronic devices, from the same University in 2003. After one year of postdoctoral work at the University of Essex he moved in 2004 to the Optical Communications Laboratory, Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens as a research associate. From 2008 to 2014 he worked as an Adjunct Lecturer and researcher at the Department of Materials Science, University of Patras, Patras, Greece. In 2014 he was appointed Lecturer of Nanophotonics at the same Department and subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor. He is also a Visiting Fellow of the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, University of Essex, Colchester, Essex, UK. His recent research activities focus on a) photonic materials b) fabrication of micro/nano photonic structures and holographic optical elements c) surface modifications using laser micromachining and soft lithographic techniques d) VCSELs and integrated optoelectronic circuits. The application areas of his research are primarily information technologies and optical sensing. He has participated as a researcher and principal investigator in many national and European research projects. His published work amounts to more than 70 journal and conference publications.
