Prof. Phoebe Koundouri participated in the 25th Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Leadership Council Meeting in New York, where leaders from academia, business, civil society, and government convened to discuss key priorities, including financing sustainable development, the evolving trade regime, mobilizing climate finance ahead of COP30, and advancing inclusive education across Africa.
During the meeting, Prof. Koundouri, together with Massamba Thioye, Project Executive of the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub, announced the formal collaboration between the SDSN Global Climate Hub and the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub.
This partnership employs a systems-based approach to implement sustainable, science-driven, and integrated pathways for climate neutrality and resilience. It provides guidance for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and facilitates platforms for cities, rural regions, and urban counties to translate complex challenges into shared goals, visions, and actionable solutions for a sustainable future. Global workshops supporting this mission have been held in New York, Bonn, at UNFCCC COPs, Pohang in South Korea, the Senegal River Basin, and China.
