The Innovation Unit for Women of the Athena Research Center was delighted to participate in EXCEED Talks – Excellence in Green and Digital Manufacturing, an event held within the framework of the EU Green Week, focusing on the Twin Transitions—the synergy between green and digital innovation—and especially on new career opportunities for girls and women in advanced manufacturing.

 

EXCEED Talks consist of a series of webinars designed to foster the exchange of knowledge and experience among professionals, academics, and stakeholders, with the aim of strengthening collaboration and networking. The initiative provides a space for sharing expertise, promoting dialogue, and contributing to the broader goals of sustainability and innovation in the manufacturing sector.

 

Mrs. Eleni Petra, Head of the Innovation Unit for Women, presented best practices from EU-funded projects such as NEANIAS, PSLifestyle, and FRESQO, which integrate ICT, environmental monitoring, and machine learning applications to create new skills and job opportunities for women. She also emphasized the skills gap in green and digital technologies, as well as the underrepresentation of women in these fields. Furthermore, she highlighted the role of the Innovation Unit for Women of the Athena Research Center as a key driver in empowering women and enhancing their participation in the ICT ecosystem.
