Tenders for two major Athena construction projects awarded

Athena Research Center announces that two more tenders regarding its construction program have recently been awarded, and now these major projects are moving to the implementation stage. It is reminded that the Athena construction program involves the reconstruction of its headquarters in Maroussi, the construction of new building facilities in Patras, the purchase of new facilities in Athens, as well as the upgrade of two Athena facilities in the northern city Xanthi.
Recently, funding was approved for the purchase of new facilities in Athens, paving the way for a competitive tender process to select a contractor. Athena’s President, Prof. Yiannis Emiris, declared: “This has been a major step towards shaping the future of our Center, as it shall allow all our teams to be housed together, on our own premises. Moreover, it shall create significant opportunities for new research and innovation activities.”
The latest decisions concern the selection of contractors for the construction of the building in Patras and the upgrade of facilities in Athens.
Specifically:
The first decision concerns the selection of a contractor for the construction of a new Athena building in Patras on privately-owned land. The purpose of the project's implementation is to meet the increased housing needs of Athena, which have arisen due to the significant growth experienced particularly in recent years.
The second decision concerns the selection of a contractor for the upgrade and refurbishment of the Athena building in Maroussi. Through the implementation of this project, the energy and sustainability upgrade of the building will also be achieved. The purpose of the project's implementation is to create infrastructure that meets the increasingly growing needs of the organization and is aligned with modern energy requirements.
