Gender Equality Board

The Gender Equality Board of the Athena RC was established in March 2021 in accordance with the provisions of Law 4604 / 26-3-2019 on the integration of the principle of gender equality and the gender dimension in public policies, and according to the directives issued by the European Institute for Gender Equality. The main objective of the committee is to establish a framework for addressing any potential reproduction of inequalities within the Athena RC ecosystem and to raise the awareness of its staff on issues related to gender equality. The Board is also responsible for drawing up an Action Plan for the promotion of gender equality and the integration of the gender dimension into the procedures and practices of the Athena RC.
The  initial version of the Gender Equality Action Plan of Athena RC was approved by the Board of Directors in November 2021.

The Board drives the participation of Athena RC in networking and research activities related to gender equality. Athena RC is a founding member of the Greek Innovation Lab for Women (The Innovation Centre for Women, #GIL4W),  and a key contributor to the Greek chapter of ACM Women in Computing, and the research chapter of Women in AI (#WAI). Athena RC is a member of the network Eurogender, and member of the IEEE Women in EngineeringAthena RC participates also in the Management Committee of the pan-European COST Networking Action “VOICES: Making Early Career Investigators' Voices Heard for Gender Equality” (CA20137).
