Ioanna Antoniou-Kritikou received her M.A. degree (D.E.A.) and Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Paris 7, Department of Linguistics in the field of Theoretical Linguistics. She also received an M.A. degree in the field of language teaching methodology from the University of Paris 3 (Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle). She received a scholarship from the French Government. She worked at the Commission of the European Union (Directorate General of translation) and as a trainer of secondary education teachers (PEK) in the field of language teaching methodology. Since 1994, she has been working as a linguist at the Educational Technology Department of the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP), where she has been developing educational multimedia software in the context of many research programmes, having the role of the coordinator or the scientific manager of scientific teams. In 2004 she was elected Director of Research at the Institute of Speech Processing / EC. ATHENA. She was Deputy Head of the Department of Educational Technology (from December 2001 to 2009) and then Head of the same department (currently Department of Learning Technologies). She is also reviewer in scientific journals, national and international conferences and developer of training material for teachers at the Institute of Educational Policy. She has taught Educational Technology issues in the Interdisciplinary Interuniversity Postgraduate Course in Language Technologies “Technoglossia” organised by the University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens, as well as at the Postgraduate program of the Hellenic Open University “Modern trends in Linguistics for teachers”. She has published books and research papers in the field of language teaching methodology and Computer (or Mobile) Assisted Language Learning (CALL/MALL).
