Staff meeting for the Reform of the Research Assessment System

Athena RC takes part in the formulation of EU policy

Athena RC took the initiative to hold a staff meeting on the consultation of the European Commission for the Reform of the Research Assessment System (Towards a reform of the research assessment system), on Thursday, January 20th, 2022.
 
The hybrid meeting that took place at the premises of Athena RC was attended by the General Director of Athena RC Ioannis Emiris, Yannis Ioannidis (Professor of Informatics & Communication, ΝΚUΑ, National Representative in the EOSC Strategic Board),Kostas Glinos (Head of the Unit for Open Science, Directorate General for Research and Innovation, European Commission), Georgios Nounesis (Director of NCSR "Demokritos"), Nektarios Tavernarakis (Director of FORTH), Andreas G. Boudouvis (Rector of NTUA) and Μ.Α. Dimopoulos (Rector of NKUA).
 
K. Glinos presented the initiative & the consultation that took place in the previous months. The ensuing discussion focused on the EU's effort for rational / new research assessment methods, the actions taken by Member States, in the research / funding organizations in Europe, as well as the next steps to be taken, highlighting the need for our country to monitor progress and to participate in the EU policy-making committees.
