Activity Report 2024

The Athena Research Center’s 2024 Activity Report captures a landmark year of scientific progress, social engagement, and strategic positioning in the European research ecosystem. 2024 stood out as a landmark year for Athena Research Center, marked by the release of the first Open LLM in Greek, the 25th anniversary of the Industrial Systems Institute, and the launch of the Athena Forum, a new platform for dialogue and foresight.

Athena’s impact extended across ~200 active projects, a vibrant team of over 900 members, and leading involvement in major European initiatives such as EOSC and CoARA, reaffirming its role in driving digital transformation, empowering emerging talent, and fostering open, responsible research with societal value.
