ΜoU with the Council of State

On Friday, July 21st, 2023, Ms. Evangelia Nikas, President of the Council of State, and Professor Yiannis Emiris, General Director of Athena Research Center, singed an MoU aiming at designing, implementing and piloting an algorithmic system for the automated assignment of court cases, in the context of justice reform.
The project is implemented by the Institute for Language and Speech Processing of Athena Research Center to speed up the process and reduce the time of adjudication of cases in the Council of State, by using digital technologies and applications.
The General Director of Athena Research Center Prof. Yiannis Emiris stated: "This cooperation constitutes an example of how modern technologies can contribute to the development of the Greek judicial system and the public sector in general. We believe that Athena Research Center's know-how and the adoption of innovative digital tools will significantly contribute to the acceleration of the administration of Justice not only at the Council of State, but also in other Courts".
The Director of ILSP, Vassilis Katsouros, said: "We are extremely excited about the prospect of this collaboration. ILSP is a pioneer in the development of advanced technological solutions oriented towards the private or public sector. The application of speech processing technologies in the field of justice opens up new horizons for the automation and improvement of processes, thus, proving that advanced technology can play a key role in promoting efficiency and transparency in the judicial system".
