On March 14, 2025, Athena Research Center will participate in the Gala Event for the Mediterranean Science Team 2025, organized by EWORA (European Women Rectors Association) and funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program. 

 

The event will highlight 12 distinguished scientists from the Mediterranean and celebrate Greece’s significant contributions to science and innovation. Athena will play a key role in strengthening collaboration and innovation in the region. 

 

As part of the MEDNIGHT Project, the Mediterranean Researchers' Night, this Gala marks a significant moment in our collective journey to promote unity through science across the Mediterranean region. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the 12 distinguished scientists selected for the Mediterranean Science Team, a group dedicated to addressing shared challenges and fostering collaboration among the 23 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. 

 

The Mediterranean Science Team represents science with a human face. Composed of researchers from the Mediterranean basin, the team seeks to provide innovative, large-scale solutions to common issues such as climate change-solutions that can only be realised through cooperation and shared knowledge. The Mediterranean, home to 500 million inhabitants across three continents, is a symbol of shared challenges and joint opportunities.
