Join the first Climathon in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece!!
What is Climathon?
EIT Climate-KIC’s Climathon is the world‘s biggest 24hr climate innovation hackathon. It is a rapidly growing global movement focused on citizen engagement, that sees cities and citizens coming together to solve local climate change challenges.
Climathon is a city-based programme that offers a clear pathway to action and interaction - an opportunity for cities and citizens to co-create local ideas to shared climate challenges.
Climathon brings together students, young and older people, organizations, local stakeholders, the public and private sector, the local authorities in order to tackle a local challenge.
The challenge set for Climathon Thessaloniki 2021 is "Urban Energy Transition".
Energy transition is a pathway toward transformation of the global energy sector from fossil-based systems of energy production and consumption — including oil, natural gas and coal — to zero-carbon sources by the second half of this century (2050). At its heart is the need to reduce energy-related CO2 emissions to limit climate change.
Participants will be asked to work in small groups and develop innovative solutions for at least one of the following fields of interest:
-
Sustainable and Aesthetically Pleasing Urban Buildings
-
Household Energy
-
Sustainable Universities
-
Sustainable Urban Mobility
-
Optimization Solutions for Distribution Networks
