The President of Athena Research Center, Professor Ioannis Emiris, participated in an online seminar organized by the Greek Language Institute on Thursday, March 5, 2026, on the topic “The Role and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Education.”
During the seminar, the recorded presentation delivered by Professor Emiris at the International Conference of the Greek Language Institute on the Teaching of Greek as a Second/Foreign Language and Multilingualism, held in June 2025, was screened. Professor Emiris, who is a member of the Institute’s Advisory Board, subsequently participated in a live discussion with the participants, answering questions regarding current developments and challenges related to the use of Artificial Intelligence in education.
The online seminar was attended by 79 educators and instructors of the Greek language from several countries, including South Africa, Egypt, the United States, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Cyprus. Participants expressed strong interest in the potential and prospects for the use of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in education and language teaching.
During the discussion, initiatives and activities of Athena Research Center, and especially those of the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP), were also presented, highlighting their work in the fields of language technology and Artificial Intelligence.
The event provided an additional opportunity for dialogue with the international community of Greek language educators and highlighted the growing interest in the potential of Artificial Intelligence technologies in education.
