AthNLP 2026: A Week Dedicated to Language and Artificial Intelligence
The international summer school brought the next generation of researchers and distinguished scientists from around the world to Athens, with Athena Research Center as a co-organiser

For one week, Athens became a meeting point for the international Natural Language Processing community. The 4th Athens Natural Language Processing Summer School (AthNLP 2026) concluded on 8 September, following seven days of lectures, workshops, discussions and exchange of ideas at the premises of NCSR “Demokritos”.
Athena Research Center, through the Archimedes Unit and the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP), contributed to the co-organisation of the summer school, helping bring together students and early-career researchers from different countries and research communities.
The programme focused on some of the most dynamic areas of contemporary research, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Multimodal AI, Machine Learning and modern neural network architectures. Beyond knowledge sharing, AthNLP also created opportunities for discussion, new connections and scientific collaboration.
For Athena Research Center, participation in AthNLP 2026 is closely connected to its longstanding research activity in language technologies and Artificial Intelligence, as well as its continued investment in the next generation of researchers and the international exchange of knowledge.
