Gerasimos Potamianos is an Associate Professor with the ECE Dept. at University of Thessaly in Greece and a senior collaborating member of AthenaRC-RPI / IRO. He holds a Ph.D. degree in ECE from the Johns Hopkins University, earned in 1994. Since then, he has worked in the U.S. (1994–2008) at the Center for Language and Speech Processing at Johns Hopkins, at AT&T Labs-Research, and at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, and in Greece (since 2008) at ICS/FORTH, IIT/NCSR-“Demokritos”, and University of Thessaly. His research interests lie in multimodal and multichannel scene perception technologies (primarily speech, audio, and vision) with applications to HCI/HRI and ambient intelligence. He has published 160 articles that have received over 7k citations and holds 7 U.S. Patents.
