Panagiotis Vartholomeos is an Assistant Professor at University of Thessaly, in the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics. His main research interests are in the design, dynamic modeling and control of robotic systems, focusing on minimally invasive surgical robotics, on assistive technologies for people with mobility impairment, and on robotic micromanipulation. He has participated as a Principal Investigator or as a Senior Researcher in more than 10 research projects in Greece, EU and USA. He has authored more than 40 peer reviewed Journal and Conference publications.   

From January 2010 till September 2012 worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University and at Children’s Hospital Boston, where he conducted research on Image Guided Minimally Invasive Surgical Robots. From 2014 till 2020 has worked as a researcher and principal investigator at the R&D departments of the private sector in Greece (Singular Logic S.A. and TWI-Hellas), conducting research on Healthcare robotic systems as well as on construction robotics.

Panagiotis Vartholomeos received the MEng degree in Elec. & Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London in 2001, and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Robotics from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the National Technical University of Athens in 2007.
