Maria Karampiperi received the degree of Physics, in 2016 from the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University, Thessaloniki. During her studies, a bachelor thesis was carried out with the title “Natural dose evaluation in fired ceramics using different methods of luminescence - Comparison of methods”. The experiments were conducted in the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Physicochemical Studies of the Research Center ATHENA and the Laboratory of Dosimetry of the Aristotle University. During the academic year 2015-2016, she conducted an internship, with Erasmus scholarship, at the Belgian Research Center of Nuclear Physics (SCK-CEN) in the project “Use of photodiodes in dosimetry – III”, while in 2016 she worked in the same research center in the project “Solid-state dosimetry using Oxides: OSL, RL and RPL”.
In 2021, she received her Master diploma in Physics from the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven), in Belgium, with main specialization in Nuclear Physics. During her studies, she conducted a master thesis with title “Characterization of solid-state detectors for proton beam dosimetry using Monte Carlo simulation techniques”, in collaboration with the Belgian Research Center of Nuclear Physics (SCK-CEN).
From 2019 until 2021, she was employed in the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Physicochemical Studies of the Research Center ATHENA, with main fields of interest the luminescence dating of antiquities, the radiation dosimetry and the evaluation of materials from the cultural heritage.
