Nadia Economou is currently working in the Institute for Language & Speech Processing. ATHENA Research Center as Principal Researcher. She graduated from the Department of Greek Philology of the National & Kappodistrian University of Athens (with specialization in linguistics) in 1989. She received her M.A. in Language Studies from the University of Lancaster, U.K. in 1990 and her Ph.D. from the same University in 1993 in the field of Educational Linguistics. She received a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. Since 1994 she has been working with ILSP in the area of Educational Technology initially as a post-doctoral fellow and then as a Researcher. She has been involved in research and development programs at national and European level, having the role of the coordinator, the scientific manager or member of scientific teams. She has worked in the design and development of educational software (CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, internet platforms, CALL, MALL) for the teaching of Greek as mother tongue and second/foreign language, Ancient Greek etc. Her research interests involve language teaching and learning with the use of ICT, critical discourse analysis, translation etc. She authored scientific publications in the above fields in scientific journals as well as Greek and international conferences. She is also reviewer in scientific journals, national and international conferences. She has taught courses in linguistics in various private institutions in Greece and has been involved in teacher training in ICT. Since 2017 she has been teaching in the Postgraduate program “Modern trends in the Analysis and Teaching of the Greek Language" of the Hellenic Open University.
