Stelios Bakamidis received his M.S. degree in Electrical Eng. from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1982 (diploma thesis title: “Minimum variance deconvolution of seismic signals”), the MSc degree in Electronics (thesis title: “The Effects of Band-Limiting and Hard-Limiting in Various Modulation Schemes”) from the Kings and Chelsea Colleges of the University of London in 1985 and the Ph.D. degree (dissertation title: “Speech Synthesis by Rules for Greek”) from the National Technical University of Athens in 1988. From 1986 until 1988 he worked as a teaching assistant at the National Technical University of Athens. From 1989 until 1992 he worked in the private sector. He is researcher A’ and Head of the Voice and Sound Technology Department of the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP).

His research interests are in speech and language processing, pattern recognition and spectral estimation and he has about 60 publications in scientific journals, conferences, books and patents in these fields. Also, he has participated in more than 30 national and EU research projects.
