Dr. Christos Alexakos is Research Associate at Industrial Systems Institute of ATHENA Research and Innovation Center, Greece. He has the Dipl. Eng. degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics, the MSc in Computer Science and Engineering and the Ph. D. from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras, Greece.

 

His main research activity is related with Information Systems Architecture and Integration in the fields of enterprise and manufacturing processes, bioinformatics, IoT, cloud computing and cloud manufacturing. He has published 15 articles in international scientific journals, 49 articles in conference proceedings and 5 chapters in books, having more than 300 references to them from other scientific articles. He also has a submitted patent to USPO. 

 

He has multi year experience in development of software applications, both web-based and standalone including databases applications, GIS and service-oriented applications. He is a highly experienced programmer and software architect and he has worked as freelancer in many ICT projects for both public and private sector since 2003. He is collaborating as a research engineer with Pattern Recognition Laboratory of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras and Computer Technology Institute. He worked as software engineer at 15 research and development projects funded from national and European programs. He was the Technical Manager of Pattern Recognition Laboratory for 10 years and he was project manager in four development projects that carried out by the laboratory. At 2013 with his colleagues, they founded InSyBio Ltd., a bioinformatics company which delivers a cloud-based software suite for intelligent analysis of biological big data. 

 

He was adjunct lecturer, from 2005 to 2012, in the Department of Applied Informatics at Management and Economy, Technical Educational Institute of Messologhi. The last three years, he teaches at the postgraduate programmes “Medical Physics” and “Informatics for Life Sciences” of School of Medicine of University of Patras. Since September 2013, he is member of the Website Editorial Board of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).
