The Athena Research Center is participating in the Dialogue Forum titled “Digital Transformation and Economic Competitiveness: Challenges and Opportunities for the Region of Attica”, which will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Serafio of the Municipality of Athens.
The event is organized within the framework of the flagship initiative
“Resilience, Inclusion, and Development: Towards a Just Green and Digital Transition of the Greek Regions” (JustReDI). This initiative is implemented by a consortium of Research Centers (
EKKE, Athena, National Observatory of Athens, HCMR) and Universities (
University of West Attica, International Hellenic University), aiming to highlight both the opportunities and barriers that local communities and economies face in light of the green and
digital transition.
The Dialogue Forum aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the transformations brought by the green and digital transition to the structures of local economies in the Region of Attica. In an environment of continuous technological and environmental change, Attica is confronted with significant challenges, but also with growth opportunities. The forum will focus on how the adoption of digital technologies can enhance competitiveness, create new business opportunities, and support the
green transition.
More specifically, the socio-economic impacts of introducing and applying innovative digital solutions in key economic sectors—such as manufacturing, trade, services, and public administration—will be examined. Particular emphasis will be placed on the need to upgrade the digital maturity of businesses and organizations, to strengthen innovation, and to develop skills for effectively managing the digital transition.
At the same time, the forum will serve as a platform for dialogue and idea exchange among businesses, public administration, research institutions, and civil society actors. The goal is to co-create policy proposals that will sustainably and equitably support local economies during the
dual transition. Through thematic presentations and interactive workshops, best practices, innovative examples, and policy proposals will be showcased, aiming at the creation of a comprehensive roadmap for the sustainable development of the Region of Attica.
The forum offers a unique opportunity for networking and the creation of synergies among participants, who will have the chance to actively contribute to developing solutions and proposals that respond to the real needs of the local economy and society.
Participation in the event is free and open to all interested parties. For better organization of the forum, you may register your participation
