Meltemi represents yet another first for Athena, as it is the first Greek Large Language Model of Artificial Intelligence.
The Institute for Language and Speech Processing of Athena has brought together researchers from different fields to create the language model. Consequently, the initial challenge was encapsulated in the question, "If not us, then who?"
The dynamic research team of Athena spoke to "Kathimerini" about this journey of challenges, trials, and emotions, which they have experienced since deciding - about a year ago - to create Meltemi. The team continues to improve and train the model in order to become a digital assistant in various fields.
