The Mediterranean Researchers’ Night (MEDNIGHT) celebrates the 20th anniversary of the European Researchers’ Night with the release of the 5th edition of Tales from MEDNIGHT and new content on MEDNIGHT TV.
These two science outreach initiatives, now established pillars of the MEDNIGHT ecosystem, return this summer with fresh stories and audiovisual productions that extend the project’s educational and cultural reach across the Mediterranean.
Tales from MEDNIGHT brings science closer to society through fourteen new science-inspired fables short stories for all audiences that translate complex ideas into imaginative narratives. At the same time, MEDNIGHT TV expands its online catalogue with new documentaries, interviews, and educational series that spotlight Mediterranean research across diverse fields. Over 100 new videos have been added, including online training modules for researchers, school outreach activities, and student-led projects from the Mediterranean Science Fairs.
Among this year’s featured contributions are three standout actions from Greece:
These projects serve as a prelude to the main celebration on September 26, 2025, when more than 800 researchers will engage with an audience of over 15,000 people in events held across 17 cities in 7 Mediterranean countries, including Xanthi, Lesvos, Lemnos, Samos, Chios, Syros, and Rhodes in Greece.
MEDNIGHT is funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of Horizon Europe and is part of the broader European Researchers’ Night, celebrated this year in over 460 cities across Europe.
