The Industrial Systems Institute (ISI) of the Athena Research Center participated in the Patras IQ 2026 Innovation and Technology Transfer Exhibition, presenting research projects and technological applications in the fields of cybersecurity, wireless networks, and Artificial Intelligence.

During the three-day event, visitors to the ISI/Athena booth had the opportunity to learn about the Institute’s research activities and initiatives, while discussions were held with representatives of the academic and business communities on current technological developments and their potential applications.
Among the showcased activities was the European project PISTIS, which develops a secure and transparent platform for the sharing and exploitation of industrial data, enabling organizations to share and trade data under clear usage terms and reliable monitoring mechanisms.
At the same time, the mmWave radar sensing technology was demonstrated live, enabling real-time 3D detection and localization of objects. This technology is part of the EUSOME project, which develops multimodal perception solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), combining data from optical cameras and radar.

Within the framework of ISΙ research activities, experimental measurements of 5G signal strength at different altitudes for unmanned aerial vehicles were also presented. These aim to better understand UAV connectivity in urban environments and support the development of safer drone applications in areas such as infrastructure inspection, logistics, and environmental monitoring.
On the second day of the exhibition, a talk titled “Responsible evolution of cybersecurity technologies and operations in the era of rapid AI adoption and post-quantum transition” was also held, presenting challenges and prospects for cybersecurity in the new era of Artificial Intelligence and post-quantum transition. The event was opened by the Director of ISΙ, Professor Chrysostomos Stylios, while presentations were delivered by researchers Dr. Ilias Politis and Dr. Kyriakos Stefanidis, as well as scientific collaborator Lidia Pocero Fraile, highlighting issues such as the security of AI infrastructures, the transition to post-quantum cryptography, and the protection of critical IIoT systems.
The participation of ISΙ in Patras IQ 2026 highlighted the active role of the Athena Research Center in strengthening research and innovation in the region, as well as its contribution to the development of cutting-edge technologies that address contemporary societal and industrial needs.
