With great success, the international Bebras® Challenge on Informatics and Computational Thinking was completed, held for the 4th time in Greece from November 10 - 28, 2025. The competition was organized for the second consecutive year by the Athena Research Center and the Women Innovation Unit, with the support of the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), the Archimedes Unit, and OpenAIRE, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Digital Governance.
Participation in the Bebras 2025–2026 Competition reached 34,706 students from 899 schools across Greece - significantly higher than last year’s 28,000 students from around 700 schools. In addition, 282 students achieved a perfect score (116/116). New research opportunities have emerged both in analysing problem-solving strategies and in studying student profiles, taking into account factors such as gender and region of participation - elements that can reveal important trends and educational needs. At the same time, the use of this data supports the development of new algorithms and pedagogical models that deepen our understanding of computational thinking skills across different age groups.
