Dr. Katerina Pastra, the representative of the Gender Equality and Combating Discrimination Committee (E.I.F.K.D.) at the Athena Research Center, will assume the role of President of the E.I.F.K.D. Network of Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes for the 2024-2026 term. The network's immediate goal for this period is to foster collaboration among research centers in enhancing their Gender Equality Action Plans to make them more inclusive. Additionally, the network aims to contribute to the development of protocols and procedures regarding (sexual or other) harassment and all forms of discrimination in the workplace of the centers, along with other issues that the network systematically studies through its established working groups.
The National Network of Gender Equality and Combating Discrimination Committees (E.I.F.K.D.) of Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes was established in April 2022. These committees serve as a fundamental mechanism for transforming Greek research centers/institutes towards a more equitable, inclusive, and discrimination-free research community. The purpose of their networking is to facilitate mutual information exchange, the sharing of best practices, mutual assistance, and coordination for the institutional responsibilities of the Committees as stipulated by current legislation. Additionally, the network facilitates the development of collaborations among the Committees, the organization of discussions and/or educational activities, the undertaking of initiatives for joint actions on relevant issues, and the coordinated contribution to policy-making on these matters.
