Ioannis Emiris on the current landscape through the lens of Athena

On Thursday, November 30 2023, the President of Athena Research Center, Professor Yiannis Emiris, delivered an invited taldat the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia. He set forth the research and innovation activities of Athena, presenting an overview of the research landscape in Greece.
He analyzed the mission and achievements accomplished by Athena, depicting the structure and distribution of the research personnel among the Greek research entities, while emphasizing on the importance of the recruitment of skilled personnel. He set out the main challenges that the research sector is facing in Greece while mentioning Athena’s perspectives and synergies, especially those with the private sector. On the topic he stressed that “we cannot approach the Greek Industry if we want to think big. We have to go beyond local and build on international collaborations.”
Prof, Emiris concluded his speech offering a sort walk through some importantR&D projects being carried out at Athena. He clearly manifested the emphasis Athena puts on tech transfer as well as on strategic development, while focusing on top-of-the-rank academic excellence and relevant applied excellence.
