Presentation of the edited volume ‘Cultural Heritage Infrastructures in Digital Humanities

The Digital Curation Unit/ Information Managment Systems Institute/ Athena Research and Innovation Center invites you in the open presentation of the edited volume 'Cultural Heritage Infrastructures in Digital Humanities' by Routledge  on Thursday, November 2017, 18.00- 20.00 at the buildings of the Archaeological Society of Greece. The event will include talks by important academics in the field and open discussion on the subject of cultural heritage infrastructures in digital humanities. 

What are the leading tools and archives in digital cultural heritage? How can they be integrated into research infrastructures to better serve their intended audiences? In this book, authors from a wide range of countries, representing some of the best research projects in digital humanities related to cultural heritage, discuss their latest findings, both in terms of new tools and archives, and how they are used (or not used) by both specialists and by the general public.

ABOUT THE EDITORS

  • Agiatis Benardou is a Senior Research Associate at the Digital Curation Unit, Athena Research Centre, Greece, and a Research Associate in Information Studies at the University of Glasgow
  • Erik Champion is UNESCO Chair of Cultural Heritage and Visualisation at Curtin University, a steering committee member of the Curtin Institute for Computation (CIC), and a member of the Australia Asia Pacific Institute (AAPI).
  • Costis Dallas is Director of the Collaborative Programs and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Research Fellow at the Digital Curation Unit, IMIS, Athena Research Centre, Greece.
  • Lorna M. Hughes is Professor in Digital Humanities at the University of Glasgow.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

  • Isto Huvila is Professor in Information Studies at Uppsala University, Sweden, and is adjunct professor in Information Management at Information Studies, Åbo Akademi University in Turku, Finland.
  • Angeliki Chrysanthi is Visiting Research Fellow in the Digital Humanities Research Centre, University of Chester.
  • Elton Barker is Reader in Classical Studies at The Open University, UK, and Community Director for Pelagios Commons.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

Aggeliki Sgora is postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus, as well as Special Advisor to the Hellenic Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media.
