As technology increasingly influences our daily lives and society, critical questions arise: How can humanity harness this technological wave? How can we anticipate and guide the impact of AI, robotics, quantum computing, and other emerging technologies? How do we ensure that technology serves the common good and empowers individuals?
We invite young adults aged 18 to 35 with a passion for new technologies, innovation, and creative problem-solving to join, work in teams, and use AI to create proposals demonstrating how technology can be leveraged for the common good.
If you're interested in:

Environmental or social sciences: Individuals who support social justice or advocate for environmental/human rights.

Entrepreneurship: People who design or develop products or solutions aimed at improving individual and community well-being.

Computer Science or STEM: People interested in natural sciences and computing.

Communication/new media: Individuals with a background in communication and new media.
During this two-and-a-half-day event, you’ll have the chance to:

Meet new people,

Learn about emerging technologies and apply your knowledge to create a video with a message for the world,

Win an educational visit to Edinburgh and meet other hackathon teams from across Europe.
Participants will form teams and receive training from our expert, Mike Lloyd, on AI technologies, their impacts, and ways to humanize these technologies. Experienced mentors will support teams throughout the process. No prior AI expertise is required to join, as the hackathon will cover foundational AI principles.
The teams will create a video with a message for the public, policymakers, and influencers to help shape the future of technology. The winning team will be awarded an educational trip to Edinburgh, where they’ll meet winning teams from AI hackathons across Europe.
Participants must:

Bring their own laptops and smartphones – tablets are not ideal for this hackathon

Have the latest version of Windows or MacOS on their laptops and either a webcam or an HD-capable smartphone camera

Be available to attend the full duration of the event

The hackathon is hosted at the Eugenides Foundation on Friday, November 29, Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, 2024, and is organized by the British Council in collaboration with the Athena Research Center, Management Science Laboratory, Department of Management Science and Technology, Athens University of Economics and Business, the Advertising & Public Relations Laboratory (ADandPRLAB), and the Laboratory of Cultural Informatics, Data & Digital Cultural Studies (CID-CCS Lab), Department of Communication, Media and Culture, Panteion University.
