Following the United Nations Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) held in Seville, the dialogue on global equity and sustainable development continued at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences in the Vatican, during the Fraternal Economy Session on Ethical Multilateralism: Views from the World’s Faiths. The session was convened under the leadership of Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
Held on 3 July 2025 , the meeting brought together an extraordinary group of global religious leaders, scholars, and policymakers to reflect on the evolving role of multilateralism in a rapidly transforming, multipolar world.
Among the distinguished speakers were:
Cardinal Peter Turkson, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academies for Sciences and Social Sciences
Sister Helen Alford, President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences
H.E. Emine Erdoğan, First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye
H.E. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations
Each speaker contributed deeply insightful perspectives on the intersection of faith, ethics, and dialogue in advancing peace, global citizenship, and sustainable development.
At a time of increasing global fragmentation, the session offered a timely and critical opportunity to explore how the enduring values of solidarity, justice, and human dignity can inform and guide essential reforms in global governance—laying the groundwork for a more peaceful and sustainable future.
