From March 18–20, the General Assembly Meeting of our CARMINE Project was hosted at the Academy of Athens, bringing together 32 partners from 11 countries to discuss climate-resilient development pathways in metropolitan regions of Europe.

As a key partner in the CARMINE project, our team at the Sustainable Development Unit – ATHENA RC Athena Research Center plays a crucial role, leading two major work packages and contributing significantly to several key areas, including:

  • Living Labs and stakeholder engagement activities

  • Digital Twin technologies to support cross-sectoral climate resilience
  • Socioeconomic vulnerability assessment

Our participation focuses on developing innovative, science-driven solutions that empower metropolitan regions to plan and act for a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient future.

Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, as the Principal Investigator, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the urgency of system innovation and science-policy integration in shaping resilient urban futures. Her insights framed the project’s ambitions and inspired a dynamic exchange of ideas.
