Code4Europe - Empowering the new generation of Young Digital Europeans

The Code4Europe project, which was launched in 2024, is funded with €6 million under the call DIGITAL-2023-SKILLS-04-BOOSTINGDIGIT – DIGITAL-CSA Digital Coordination and Support Actions. The project aims to inspire and empower the next generation of digitally skilled Europeans by promoting digital literacy and coding skills. Through its activities, Code4Europe seeks to strengthen young people’s engagement with digital technologies and increase their participation in Europe’s digital workforce.

Code4Europe brings together a broad international consortium of educational institutions, digital organisations and strategic partners from more than 20 European countries. Together, the partners contribute to strengthening EU Code Week as a year-round initiative, with stronger resources, wider participation and a clearer pathway for children and young people across Europe to develop digital skills.

The Athena Research Center plays a substantial role in the implementation of the activities under WP5 – Girls in Digital, in particular by leading Task 5.4. Its role focuses on the development and implementation of actions aimed at attracting and empowering girls and young women in the digital field, through events, synergies with relevant stakeholders, activities promoting female role models, and dissemination actions that enhance the visibility and sustainability of the project.
