The 15th Conference “Hellenic Language and Terminology” was held in Athens on 6–8 November with dynamic participation from the academic and research community. The conference was organized by the Hellenic Society for Terminology (ELETO), in collaboration with the Department of French Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), under the auspices of the School of Philosophy of NKUA. The Athena Research Center participated as a sponsor, actively supporting research on the Greek language and the technologies developed around it.

 

During the Conference, contemporary contributions were presented on theoretical and methodological approaches to Terminology, translation and interpreting, digital language tools, as well as issues related to the teaching and application of Terminology across specialized topics.

 

Particular interest was drawn by the Open Discussion on the modern topic “Artificial Intelligence and Terminology,” where the presentations highlighted the challenge of the interaction between the Greek language and AI, as well as the opportunities and implications for terminological work. Athena RC was represented by Dr. Stella Markantonatou, Research Director at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing, and by Scientific Associate Prokopis Prokopidis, who presented the talks “Developing Terminological Resources with Large Language Models” and “Experience from Lexicography and Open Large Language Models for Greek,” respectively. Their presentations stimulated vivid discussion and reflection among attendees and researchers, showcasing the value of research in the field of language technology.
