What did 2025 look like for Athena Research Center? A year of consolidation and strategic growth, building on what had already been achieved while opening new paths for the Center’s continued development.

Athena’s strong scientific output reflects the breadth of Athena’s research activity, while important distinctions at leading international conferences and scientific fora highlight the quality and international recognition of its work. At the same time, 2025 saw significant developments in flagship initiatives: HERON - the Hellenic Robotics Center of Excellence officially launched, PHAROS - the Greek AI Factory entered its implementation phase, while Athena’s innovation activity and international collaborations continued to expand.

2025 was also a pivotal year for the upgrade and expansion of Athena’s infrastructure, a landmark initiative supported by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. Among the most significant developments was the progress made towards the acquisition of a new building in Athens, Athena’s largest infrastructure investment to date. Together with the renovation and upgrade of existing facilities and infrastructure interventions in Xanthi, these investments are laying the foundations for Athena’s next phase of growth.
