WiseFood demo applications are now available to try!

AI for healthy and sustainable food choices

25-06-2026

WiseFood, the Horizon Europe project coordinated by the Information Management Systems Institute (IMSI) of Athena Research Center, has released the first preview of its platform: three AI-powered applications designed to help households make healthier, more sustainable food choices.

Launched in January 2025, WiseFood's mission is to democratise access to trustworthy, curated food-related information and empower citizens to make well-informed, eco-conscious dietary choices at the household level,  combining scientific evidence with user-centred AI design. The first results are here: three demo applications (FoodScholar, RecipeWrangler, and FoodChat) are now available for citizens to explore, test, and provide feedback on.

Each application addresses a different dimension of the food-choice challenge, and together they form a cohesive platform built around the user’s own profile and goals:
  • FoodScholar lets users browse dietary guides by country and ask plain-language questions, returning citation-grounded answers on nutrition, health, and sustainability.
  • RecipeWrangler helps discover, adapt, and analyse recipes against nutritional goals and environmental footprint.
  • FoodChat acts as a personalised meal-planning assistant, building plans for every household member based on allergies, dietary goals, and cultural preferences.

Signing up is free - users create a household profile, and their feedback will directly shape the project's next steps. Importantly, WiseFood is designed with privacy at its core: profiles belong to the people who create them, and data is never sold.
