Professor Phoebe Koundouri Hosts Visit of H.E. Laurence Auer at Athena Research Center
As Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Athena Research Center, Professor Phoebe Koundouri had the honor of participating in the visit of His Excellency Laurence Auer, Ambassador of the French Republic to Greece, at the Athena Research Center.
Professor Koundouri presented the work of the Sustainable Development Unit, which undertakes advanced interdisciplinary research to support the transition towards sustainability. The Unit focuses on systems-based research and delivers innovative solutions aimed at fostering a green, digital, employment-rich, and equitable future. This work is conducted in collaboration with the AE4RIA (Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation on Aephoria) network, which promotes sustainable development through the integration of science and policy.
Additionally, Professor Koundouri introduced the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Global Climate Hub, which she chairs. Based in Greece at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Athena Research Center, the Hub operates under the auspices of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. It is a research-driven international platform addressing complex sustainability challenges by developing integrated system-level solutions on both national and global scales, aimed at achieving climate neutrality and resilience. The Hub’s efforts are rooted in socio-economic and financial system analysis and are guided by inclusive, participatory co-design processes involving multiple stakeholders.
