On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, Athena Research Center welcomed the new General Secretary for Research and Innovation (GSRI), Dr Dimitris Terzis, as part of his official visit and a working meeting with the Center’s Management.

 

Dr Terzis was welcomed by the Chair of the Board of Directors and General Director of Athena Research Center, Professor Ioannis Emiris, who presented the Center’s profile, mission and main areas of activity, as well as selected initiatives and results with a strong impact on research, innovation and technology transfer.

 

Dr Terzis expressed strong interest in Athena Research Center’s research fields and in its dynamic growth trajectory over recent years. He underlined his intention, in his new role, to support the efforts of the research and innovation ecosystem in addressing contemporary challenges and proposed maintaining an ongoing dialogue to identify needs and explore implementable solutions.

 

The visit concluded with remarks by the Institute Directors and members of the Board of Directors, followed by a constructive discussion focusing on research priorities, infrastructure, collaborations and prospects for strengthening links with the productive sector.
