Professor Yiannis Emiris, President and General Director of "Athena" RC and Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, Head of Sustainable Development Unit of "Athena" RC participated as speakers at the Aristotle-Confucius Symposium on Ethics for the 21st Century. The Symposium begun at the Academy of Athens on the 3rd of July 2023.
 
Prof. Yiannis Emiris in his welcome remarks mentioned that “The questions posed by this Symposium on ethics are always relevant, but their relationship to classical Chinese and Greek philosophy becomes ever more important today, given the rapid technological, social, and environmental changes and challenges of our times”.
Prof. Phoebe Koundouri mentioned she was thrilled to put together this global event that brought Chinese and Greek civilizations, philosophy, and wisdom together to inform solutions for contemporary problems.
The Symposium included ten thematic sessions, open discussions, and speeches from world-renowned philosophers and experts addressing the importance of drawing upon ancient wisdom to solve common problems of the current times.
Academic institutions that supported the organization of the conference include the ATHENA Research CenterAthens University of Economics and Business (School of Economics and Business Confucius Institute), and China Development Research Foundation.
