Interactive Music and Scientific Activities

The proposed project, “Interactive Music and Scientific Activities” (ΕπιSTEAMουσική) aims at the development of a Research and Innovation Hub in Education, which will involve physical hubs, in four locations in two regions of Greece, as well as a digital hub, in the form of an web-based platform that will be accessible to students and teachers both in Greece and abroad. The proposed Research and Innovation Hub combines and promotes scientific, technological and educational innovation as it employs state-of-the-art technologies for audio processing, music analysis and production, and multimodal interaction for the exploration and learning of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Music and applies them to the educational process within the contemporary educational movement known as STEAM. The core of the webbased platform of the hub, will be the up-and-running (and available in various languages, among them Greek) iMuSciCA web platform (result of a successful Horizon 2020 European Program coordinated by Athena R.C.), as well as music technology tools developed in Athena R.C. The four physical hubs will be open for visits by secondary school students in the Attica region and in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, while teacher training seminars will also be organized on the use of the online platform as well as on the development of respective educational scenarios. Additionally, a nation-wide (excluding the regions of the hubs) STEAM student competition will be organized with the winner class visiting the Athena R.C. facilities in Athens. The proposed Research and Innovation Hub in Education seeks to consolidate and broaden the positive impact of applying research results to education.
