11-03-2024

NCCI Demokritos in collaboration with ICCS, CTI Diophantus, Athena Research Center, Hellenic Pasteur Institute and ECWT organized the 2nd workshop of the EEA Bilateral Relations project, #GIL4W (Greek Innovation Lab for Women) on the presentation of the project's objectives and practices followed in Norway to enhance the contribution of women on innovation and entrepreneurship. The workshop took place on Friday 8/3/2024 at 13:00 - 15:30, at NCSR Demokritos.
The aim of this project is to create the mechanism under which #GIL4W will become a flagship project for both countries (Norway and Greece), acting as a mechanism for knowledge transfer from Norway to Greece, which will allow members of both sides to share tools, good practices, business collaborations with research centers and directly promote innovative practices.
The introductions of all stakeholders were followed by a presentation of the project, its interim results and the results of visits to Norway:
  • How gender equality and support mechanisms are addressed in Norway
  • Interconnection with Innovation Norway and alignment with the objectives of the new EEA period
  • How research centres like SIMULA are pioneering equality issues
  • Innovative learning practices such as Newton Rooms to school students about STEM
Mrs. Eleni Petra, Head of the Innovation Unit for Women at the Athena Research Center (IUW), the operational arm of the #GIL4W alliance, and coordinator of the homonymous project, emphasized, on the occasion of Women's Day, the exceptional contribution of the research networks of Greece and Norway in promoting women's innovation and entrepreneurship. Additionally, Mrs. Zefi Dimadama, General Secretary for Gender Equality, emphasized the necessity for equivalent qualitative projects and initiatives in both countries.

The project "#GIL4W - Greek Innovation Lab for Women: Partnership for Norwegian Knowledge Transfer to enhance women's know-how in R&I and entrepreneurship in Greece" is co-funded by EEA Grants representing the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
