EIT ClimAccelerator: Green Transformation of Shipping

Green Transformation of Shipping: From Idea to Practice

The Sustainable Development Unit of ATHENA RC and EIT Climate KIC Hub Greece, led by Professor Phoebe Koundouri (Athens University of Economics and Business), in collaboration with EIT Climate-KIC and Cyprus University of Technology and a large team of European port authorities, shipping companies and associations, and VCs from all over Europe, is launching the ClimAccelerator focused on Maritime Industry.

ClimAccelerator will work towards the adoption of an ambitious roadmap to reduce maritime greenhouse gas emissions by 50% (2008 base year) as agreed by IMO. The accelerator co-funded by EIT Climate-KIC, the EU's leading climate innovation initiative, through the Net-Zero Emission Resilient Maritime Hubs project. The accelerator is also funded by VC Funds, Shipping Companies and Associations. The ultimate goal is to create a world-class maritime accelerator, which will support and develop 30-40 start-ups per year and provide solutions to the challenges of carbon emission exemption, locally and globally.

Through this accelerator, participating teams will receive free training and guidance and funding from € 5,000 to € 500,000 (depending on team stage).
