"International School in Circular Economy Project Management" is the new course led by the University of Ferrara and partnered with Centoform, Wuppertal Institut, ATHENA RC, and co-financed by the Region Emilia Romagna that looks at training experts in managing projects looking into the application of effective circular economy strategies. 

 

On the 14^th of September 2022, Prof Phoebe Koundouri (Athens University of Economics and Business) and Prof Thanos Yannacopoulos (Athens University of Economics and Business) gave a 2-hour lecture each at the CEIS International School that was attended by 23 international students.

 

Prof. Koundouri focused on the policy framework in Europe for the Transition to Sustainability discussing the role of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Law, the new EU Taxonomy package, etc. She also presented the results of the cross-mapping EDG Policies to the 17 SDGs and the 6 transformations operationalizing the SDGs. Finally, she presented the impacts of Climate Policy on Financial performance and the interconnected nature of the SDGs and ESGs.

Prof. Yannakopoulos focused on decision-making under model uncertainty. He showed the contribution of mathematics in making decisions when we don’t have the necessary data. Among others, he showed the Elsberg paradox, explained the effects of model uncertainty and what are the stochastic differential games, and how to identify the optimal transportation enters and the social discount rates.

On the 15^th of September 2022, Dr Conrad Landis presented selected topics and projects in Sustainable Finance including the integration of SDGs to Company ESG Reporting and of the valuation of ecosystem services to decision making. On the 19^th of September 2022 Dr Ebun Akinsete introduced participants to the core values of Sustainable Development, the relation of the SDGs with the industrial production and the role of circularity, policy, legislation and innovation in sustainable consumption and production.
