Athena RC at International Exhibition EXPO, 2020 Dubai

"Athena" RC was part of the Greek delegation at the International Exhibition EXPO 2020 Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, 22 - 24 February. The Greek delegation led by Deputy Minister of Development and Investments Christos Dimas consisted of 15 start-ups of Elevate Greece, 7 Greek Research Centers and the 4th Generation Technology Park in Thessaloniki (ThessINTEC).
In the Greek delegation, Athena RC was represented by the Scientific Associates Yannis Ioannidis, Professor of Informatics & Communications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Phoebe Kountouris, Professor at Athens University of Economics & Business, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit of Athena R.C. and Chrysi Laspidou, Professor at the University of Thessaly. The goal was to achieve synergies in issues concerning artificial intelligence, sustainability technologies and green transition, and develop business in these areas.The Program of the Business, Research delegates in Dubai, during the 1st day included participation in the Greek Innovation Business Forum, a tour of the Greek pavilion, a tour of the Dubai Silicon Oasis Technology Park, as well as a visit to the offices of InstaShop, a Greek interest startup in Emirates. On the 2nd day the delegation visited Abu Dhabi, for business meetings in Masdar City, at the business accelerator Hub71 of the Mubadala Investment Fund, as well as at the state investment entity ADQ - (holding Company).
The visit was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enterprise Greece, the Abu Dhabi Embassy and the Dubai Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs, aiming at cooperation, investments, exchange of ideas and study of best practices on issues concerning the development of innovation ecosystems and research activity.
According to Mr. Dimas: "The Greek research and innovation ecosystem has recently gained particularly extroverted momentum. The purpose of our presence at the international exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai, is for Greece to show its competitive advantages that restore it on the investment map".
