Lectures, lessons and hands-on sessions by distinguished professors

13-06-2019

The 3rd ACM Europe Summer School for Data Science will take place the following July (11-17/7) in Athens and invites researchers around the world to attend a series of interesting and constructive lectures by distinguished professors. The summer school is addressed to young Computer Science researchers and engineers, i.e. young faculty, postdocs, PhD candidates, young engineers from industry and in some special cases MSc students or even senior undergraduate students.

Lectures will be focused on several forms of analytics, machine learning and data mining techniques, big data systems, and the ethics of data science. All courses will take place in the Athens Marriott Hotel. Students will have the opportunity to attend a keynote lecture by Constantinos Daskalakis (MIT), recently awarded with the 2018 ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award, and multi-lecture courses by distinguished academics and researchers: Ricardo Baeza-Yates (NTENT και Northeastern University), Jiawei Han (U. Illinois - Urbana-Champaign), Bill Howe (U. Washington - Seattle), Natasa Milic-Frayling (U. Nottingham), Evi Pitoura (U. Ioannina) και J.J. van Wijk (TU Eindhoven).

In the 2nd ACM Europe Summer School sixty young computer science researchers and engineers from eighteen countries, young faculty, postdocs, PhD candidates and MSc students, arrived in Athens to attend an intense week of lectures, hands-on sessions and keynote talks from 9 distinguished scientists.
