Official inauguration ceremony of EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece

On the 1st of October 2018, the official inauguration ceremony of EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece (coordinated by "Athena" RC) will take place at Hilton Hotel, Athens. The Director of the Greek EIT Climate-KIC Hub, Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, will introduce the Hub, while the Director European Affairs, EIT Climate-KIC, Dr. Mike Cherrett, will present the European EIT Climate-KIC Platform. Directors from European EIT Climate-KIC Hubs will share successful innovation practices from European and Greek start-ups. The event is invitation-only and it is addressed to Clean Techstart-ups, Businesses and Investors, Researchers, Policy-Makers, Politicians, and civil society. In 2018, EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece will focus on engagement and networking activities withlocal actors. Raising awareness and establishing synergies will be the primary mission of the Hub.

EIT Climate-KIC is EU's largest public-private partnership focused on climate innovation tomitigate and adapt to climate change and has established hubs in all European Countries (www.climate-kic.org). It aims to address climate change across four priority themes: urbanareas, land use, production systems, decision metrics and finance. Education is at the heartof these themes to inspire and empower the next generation of climate leaders. EIT Climate-KIC runs programmes for students, start-ups and innovators across Europe via centres inmajor cities, convening a community of the best people and organisations.

The Greek EIT Climate-KIC Hub has been officially active since May 25, 2018, and iscomposed by a consortium of various organisations across the knowledge triangle: “Αthena” Research Center (project coordinator), the Academy of Athens -Research Centre for Atmospheric Physics and Climatology, Uni.fund, European Regional Framework for Co-operation, UN SDSN Greece, IOBE and Eunice Energy GroupProf. Phoebe Koundouri operates as the project coordinator of the Greek EIT Climate-KIC Hub. The newly established hub will be a focal point for organisations across business and entrepreneurship, higher education and research, supporting knowledge sharing and accelerating the journey of solutions from the lab through to market.In particular, the EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece aims to bolster a regional climate innovation movement that will initiate and catalyse strategic innovation within society at large. This expanding movement will eventually bridge the knowledge gap in Clean Tech development between Western Europe and the South-East Mediterranean, guiding Greece towards the creation of a climate-resilient society founded on a circular, zero-carbon economy. The long term impact will be to prevent catastrophic climate change implications through innovative climate-smart solutions.
