Grant Thornton has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Athena Research Center, one of the country’s most dynamic research organizations in the fields of information, communication, and knowledge technologies. As part of the launch of this new collaboration, a meeting between executives from both sides took place on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Grant Thornton’s offices.

This partnership marks the shared commitment of both organizations to promote innovation, bridge research with entrepreneurship, and enhance digital transformation in the Greek market, leveraging the capabilities of Grant Thornton’s AI Center of Excellence to develop cutting-edge technological solutions and initiatives.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, the two parties will jointly develop initiatives focusing, among other areas, on upskilling professionals, designing and implementing specialized training programs, fostering connections with innovation and research, and strengthening the link between the academic community and the labor market.

Particular emphasis is placed on developing actions that will contribute to the digital transformation of businesses, utilizing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and data science, as well as creating opportunities for young scientists through internships, research projects, and scholarships.

The collaboration has a duration of four years, with the prospect of further development and expansion of joint actions, depending on market needs and the priorities of both organizations.
On the occasion of the launch of the new collaboration, Mr. Vasilis Kazas, CEO of Grant Thornton in Greece, stated: “Our collaboration with the Athena Research Center represents an important step toward strengthening the connection between research and entrepreneurship. In an environment where digital transformation and artificial intelligence are redefining business, we are strategically investing in knowledge, skills, and the creation of a strong ecosystem that bridges the scientific community with the market. This partnership reinforces our commitment to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable and technologically advanced future for businesses and their people.”

From his side, the President and General Director of the Athena Research Center, Professor Ioannis Emiris, noted: “The partnership launched today marks a pivotal moment in our strategy for disseminating research and connecting the knowledge we produce with the economy and society. Athena, as the only research center focused on digital sciences, aims to deliver accessible technology that is useful for citizens and businesses. It is an honor for us to have Grant Thornton as a partner in this vision, with a focus on modern cutting-edge fields, ranging from data management and security to artificial intelligence and robotics.
