Innovation and Technology for a Green, Digital and Just Recovery

The Greek EIT Ecosystem

02-11-2020

On Monday 2nd of November, 2020, EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece and SDSN Greece are organising the digital event titled “Innovation and Technology for a Green, Digital and Just Recovery” with the participation of representatives from all Greek Hubs of Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) of the Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), under the auspices of the Goulandris Museum of Natural History, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Ministry of Development and Investments.

The aim of this event is twofold: (a) to kick-off the collaboration between the eight KICs of Greece, namely, EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece, EIT Food Hub Greece, EIT Health Hub Greece, EIT InnoEnergy Hub Greece, EIT Raw Materials Hub – Regional Center Greece, EIT Digital Hub Greece, EIT Manufacturing Hub Greece, EIT Urban mobility Hub Greece; (b) the communication of the need for a country level MoU between the Greek Government and the EIT. Both of the above will accelerate innovation towards the Sustainability Transition of the country, the joint implementation of UN Agenda 2030 and the European Green Deal, as well as a Sustainable Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent EU body that is strengthening Europe’s ability to innovate. The EIT plays a vital role in supporting the EU’s objectives of creating sustainable economic growth and jobs by enabling entrepreneurs and innovators to turn their best ideas into products and services for Europe. The EIT nurtures entrepreneurial talent and supports new ideas, bringing together the ‘knowledge triangle’ of leading companies, universities and research centres to form dynamic cross-border partnerships called Innovation Communities (KIC — Knowledge and Innovation Community). The presence at the event of the Director of EIT Mr. Martin Kern sends a strong message on the level of commitment this important European organization shows in supporting the Innovation ecosystem in Greece.

The event will be honoured by the presence of the Minister for the Environment and Energy Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis and the Deputy Minister for Research and Innovation Mr. Christos Dimas. Speakers include representatives from all Greek KICs, the entrepreneurship ecosystem, the financial institutions and the research organizations. The event is part of the celebrations in memory of Angelos Goulandris, founder of the Goulandris Museum of Natural History and will be live streamed online at https://youtu.be/mI_1d9Ykluk. The event will be held in Greek.
